Dredge Mate

About the role

The Dredge Mate will support NMDC Dredging and Marine in executing dredging, reclamation and civil marine projects on time and within budget while maintaining high quality, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute dredging activities and ensure compliance with project deadlines and budgets.
• Supervise and coordinate the crew for vessel cleaning, maintenance and repair of dredge parts.
• Delegate tasks to the Bosun and Leading Hand, assess their performance and drive efficiency improvements.
• Identify risks, implement mitigations and ensure safe connection of dredge pipelines according to NMDC procedures.
• Collaborate regularly with the dredging and technical crew to resolve operational issues.
• Work in strict accordance with HSE regulations, use required protective equipment and report any hazards or defective gear.

Required profile

• Vocational dredging degree or equivalent professional qualification.
• First‑aid certification (environmental techniques considered an asset).
• Minimum 2 years of function‑specific experience in dredging operations.
• Extensive knowledge of pumps, wearing parts and related pipe systems.
• Deep understanding of anchors, buoys, wires, cranes, winches and sea‑fastening procedures.
• Experience with pipeline activities and deck‑work risk awareness.
