Driller

About the role

Stena Drilling is recruiting a Driller. The role covers controlling drilling operations during the shift safely and efficiently, in line with approved operator instructions, the drilling programme and the operation manual, and reporting directly to the Toolpusher.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure drilling follows the approved Operator's Instructions, Drilling Programme, Operation Manual and RSWMs, and seek continuous KPI improvement.
• Report deviations from approved instructions or programme to the Toolpusher; never leave the post without the Toolpusher's authority.
• Ensure planned maintenance on drilling equipment is done thoroughly and recorded on PM sheets, and that maintenance is entered in Maximo.
• Carry out daily checks on drilling equipment and maintain an accurate pipe tally and record of all equipment entering the well.
• Delegate derrick inspections and dropped object checks, ensure good housekeeping on the drill floor, and check the ton-mile record and calculations supplied by the Operator.
• Complete daily drilling reports, act as co-ordinator during well tests and maintain a valve status board.
• Monitor the well, record volumes when tripping, and be familiar with space-out, pipe-stretch and shut-in procedures; shut the well in when required.
• Maintain a current kick sheet and update the Slow Circulating Rate record each shift in line with Well Control Procedures.
• Ensure lifting equipment is gauged and compatible with tubulars in use, and allocate tasks to Assistant Driller and Junior Driller with adequate supervision.
• Be accountable for the safety of personnel under direction, comply with SMS, act as barrier owner and verifier for the SECT process, follow Management of Change, and take part in accident and incident investigations.

Required profile

• Current Level 3 IWCF Well Control Certificate.
• Previous experience as Assistant Driller or Driller on an anchored or DP vessel.
