EEG Technician – Electro‑Neuro Diagnostic

About the role

The EEG Technician is responsible for independently performing all EEG‑related procedures, analysing recordings, and supporting senior technologists. The role ensures high‑quality neuro‑diagnostic data to aid physicians in patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Explain test procedures to patients and obtain cooperation for complete examinations.
• Place electrodes accurately using the International 10‑20 System and verify impedance meets laboratory standards.
• Conduct routine, sleep, bedside, and long‑term video EEG recordings in the epilepsy monitoring unit.
• Adjust equipment settings or employ alternative methods to achieve optimal recordings.
• Identify normal versus abnormal findings, annotate observations, and manage artifacts.
• Gather comprehensive patient histories and prepare detailed technical EEG/EMU summaries.
• Maintain inventory, ensure equipment cleanliness, and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Participate in technical conferences and meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months of relevant hospital experience and at least 1 year of on‑the‑job training.
• High School Certificate plus a 1‑year Allied Health certification or equivalent qualification.
• Training under an EEG supervisor or neurophysiologist.
