Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Inspector to oversee inspections of power distribution and control systems for oil & gas and petrochemical projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves close collaboration with EPC contractors, manufacturers and client representatives to ensure compliance with design documentation and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Attend inspections of 33 kV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV and 415 V power distribution, instrumentation, switchgear, control gear, cathodic protection, HVAC, UPS and related systems.
• Prepare and review method statements and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) in coordination with QA/QC and project engineers.
• Produce QA/QC reports covering inspections, material conformity and non‑conformance issues.
• Verify corrective actions, ensure drawings are approved and compliant, and confirm calibration of special tools.
• Conduct functional testing of control valves, SDVs and ESDVs.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for HV and LV equipment.
• Control quality of electrical materials received on site.
• Prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Control Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in oil & gas or petrochemical construction as an inspector.
• Proven experience with new builds and brown‑field modifications of 33 kV, 11 kV, 3.3 kV and 415 V distribution systems.
• Hands‑on experience interpreting EPC contractor and vendor design documentation.
• Experience liaising with EPC contractors, manufacturers and client representatives during FAT and SAT.
• Good knowledge of ISO and other international standards.
• Fluency in English.
