Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

About the role

Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility in the Northern Emirates with 200+ beds and JCI accreditation, is hiring an Emergency Medical Technician. The EMT provides immediate emergency medical care, life-saving interventions and safe patient transport in pre-hospital settings, working with paramedics, nurses and physicians during medical emergencies, accidents, disasters and patient transfers.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and give immediate pre-hospital care to patients with illness, injury or trauma.
• Assess patients, obtain medical history and perform primary and secondary evaluations.
• Administer basic life support, including CPR, airway management and use of AEDs.
• Stabilize patients by controlling bleeding, immobilizing fractures, managing shock and providing wound care.
• Monitor and document vital signs, patient status, treatments and changes in condition.
• Transport patients safely to healthcare facilities while monitoring them continuously.
• Communicate patient information clearly to receiving teams and operate and maintain ambulances and emergency equipment.
• Assist in mass casualty incidents, disaster response and community emergency preparedness.
• Follow infection prevention, safety and clinical protocols, and collaborate with paramedics, nurses, physicians and law enforcement.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families, and take part in ongoing training and competency assessments.

Required profile

• Diploma or Associate Degree in Emergency Medical Services, Paramedicine, Emergency Care or a related healthcare field.
• Valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification from a recognized regulatory authority.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
