Engineer II, SIL Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

EDGE Group is seeking an Engineer II to lead the design of safety‑instrumented (SIL) electrical systems for defense and automotive applications. The role involves translating customer requirements into detailed electrical specifications and supporting prototype development.

Key responsibilities

• Design DC and AC switchgear for low‑voltage (LV) and medium‑voltage (MV) systems.
• Create schematic designs and documentation using electrical CAD tools such as EPLAN, WSCAD or Creo.
• Develop and validate electrical power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with IEC and ANSI/IEEE standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on system integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Participate in prototyping activities and provide hands‑on support for hardware validation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Software Engineering, Physics or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5–10 years of relevant experience, preferably in the defense industry.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Valid UAE driver’s license or ability to obtain one.

Required skills

• Design of DC/AC switchgear for LV and MV systems.
• Proficiency with EPLAN, WSCAD, Creo or equivalent electrical CAD software.
• Knowledge of automotive and industrial instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level sensors).
• Experience with industrial automation, PLC programming, servo drives and actuators.
• Familiarity with IEC 60617, IEC 61082, ANSI Y32.2 and IEEE 315 standards.
