Engineer, Well Completions

About the role

The Engineer, Well Completions will be responsible for designing and optimizing well trajectories, drill‑string configurations and bottom‑hole assemblies to ensure safe and efficient drilling operations. The role involves preparing rig mobilization plans, wellhead casing and cementing programs, and overseeing drilling‑mud and directional‑drilling strategies while maintaining well integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Design well trajectories and optimize well profiles according to project requirements.
• Develop drill‑string and bottom‑hole assembly designs, including bit selection, hydraulics, rotary speed and weight‑on‑bit programs.
• Prepare rig mobilization/demobilization plans, orientation diagrams and WHTP approach plans.
• Create wellhead casing, cementing and drilling‑mud programs to meet expected down‑hole conditions.
• Generate directional‑drilling programs with collision avoidance and produce time‑depth and cost‑depth curves.
• Plan well evaluation programs (LWD, wireline logging, coring) and assess potential drilling challenges such as lost returns, well control, stability and stuck pipe.
• Develop and optimise drilling, completion and work‑over procedures, specifying materials, equipment and chemicals.
• Conduct technical reviews of well‑completion designs, prepare abandonment programs and cost estimates (AFEs).
• Supervise and coordinate activities in the assigned area, train staff and support budget preparation and cost control.

Required profile

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in well‑completion design and drilling operations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex drilling scenarios.
• Ability to lead technical reviews and supervise multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with budgeting, cost‑control and performance monitoring.
