Faculty – Arabic Language & Literature Lecturer (Naval Science)

About the role

The university seeks an experienced faculty member to deliver, assess, and continuously improve Arabic Language, Literature, and Linguistics modules within the Bachelor of Naval Science programme. The role combines high‑quality teaching, academic advising, and, where research‑active, scholarly contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate Arabic modules in line with CAA contact‑hour requirements.
• Facilitate inclusive, outcome‑focused learning using in‑person, online, blended, and problem‑based methods.
• Prepare session plans, teaching materials, assessments, and rubrics aligned to programme learning outcomes.
• Contribute to curriculum design, module development, and annual programme review to meet CAA standards.
• Participate in assessment boards, moderation panels, and academic quality assurance processes.
• Provide academic advising and pastoral support to undergraduate students.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years teaching experience with a Master’s degree or 5 years post‑PhD experience in Arabic Language, Literature, Linguistics, Translation or a related field.
• Doctoral degree preferred (Ph.D., Ed.D. or equivalent).
• Demonstrated research capability with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Professional membership in a recognised international Arabic language or literature body.
• Experience in UAE/GCC higher‑education environments and familiarity with CAA accreditation processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with learning management systems (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas or equivalent).
• Assessment design expertise, including rubric development and grade moderation.
• Research methodology knowledge (qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods).
