Faculty Member – Nautical Science & Maritime Transport

About the role

The Sharjah Maritime Academy is seeking a dedicated faculty member to support its Nautical Science and Maritime Transport programmes. You will work closely with the Head of Maritime Transport to deliver high‑quality teaching and contribute to the Academy’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Maritime Transport Programme in achieving strategic priorities.
• Teach subjects such as Navigation, Cargo Operations, Bridge Management, and other STCW‑related topics.
• Employ innovative pedagogic approaches, deliver lectures, and lead seminars.
• Participate in examination and assessment processes, including setting papers and marking.
• Provide constructive feedback to students through various communication channels.
• Conduct research aligned with the Academy’s ambition to be research‑active.
• Deliver maritime training courses as required and travel when necessary.

Required profile

• STCW Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner Unlimited).
• Master of Science or equivalent master‑level qualification in a relevant subject.
• Experience in oil/gas operations, dynamic positioning, and simulation training (preferred).
• Experience in maritime education or training, and/or service as a Master on merchant vessels.
• Proven ability to develop and revise course content and programmes.

Required skills

• Fluent English communication at a professional level.
