Field Service Engineer Intern – Substation Automation

About the role

Join GE Vernova’s Grid Solutions team for a 12‑month internship focused on substation automation and field service engineering. You will support senior engineers in preparing technical documentation, performing on‑site installations, and ensuring reliable operation of protection and control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare signal lists, schematics, bill of materials and other engineering documents for protection relays and panel modifications.
• Assist with field service tasks for Substation Automation Systems, including DCS/SCS, RTU, cyber‑security configurations, and IEC61850 signal mapping.
• Support production documentation such as wiring tables, cable schedules, and inter‑panel wiring files, and perform CT/VT adequacy checks and relay setting calculations.
• Coordinate site activities, EHS compliance, and testing of digital inputs, controls, interlocks, SCADA signals and SCS functionalities.
• Help install and commission SCS systems on‑site, including fiber‑optic layout, PC installation, console wiring and functional testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Power, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Energy Engineering or a related field.
• Fresh graduate up to 2 years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Fluent in English (Arabic is a plus).
