Financial Manager

About the role

The Financial Manager will steer the financial health and strategic direction of a shipping and maritime logistics company. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role combines financial planning, accounting, treasury, and risk management across vessel operations and shore activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare annual budgets, voyage profitability forecasts and rolling cash‑flow projections for fleet and on‑shore operations.
• Conduct variance analysis against budget, prior periods and industry benchmarks and present insights to senior management.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS/GAAP, including multi‑entity and multi‑currency consolidation.
• Manage accounting for voyage revenue, freight income, charter‑hire, demurrage, vessel operating costs and depreciation.
• Coordinate statutory and internal audits, liaise with external auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Handle daily cash management, banking relationships, letters of credit and trade finance facilities for bunker and port expenses.
• Monitor foreign‑exchange exposure and recommend hedging strategies.
• Supervise accounts receivable and payable functions, ensuring timely collections and payments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in finance within shipping, logistics or related maritime sectors.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and IFRS 16 lease accounting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling initiatives.
• Experience managing multi‑currency accounts, treasury operations and foreign‑exchange risk.
• Excellent analytical skills with a track record of delivering variance and profitability analyses.
