Financial Officer – Student Affairs

About the role

The Financial Officer will support the Student Affairs division by managing purchase orders, contracts, budgets and a wide range of financial requests. This position acts as the primary liaison between the Financial Affairs Department and the APSA Office, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Issue purchase orders, encumbrances, tenders and petty‑cash requests.
• Process student‑affairs related requests such as hospitality, stationery, gifts, conference attendance, travel, hotel services, overtime and trainer payments.
• Administer annual contracts for food, medical, general assistance, sport services and Symplicity, and handle their monthly invoicing.
• Participate in budget implementation, monitor expenditures and respond to budget‑related inquiries.
• Prepare, follow‑up and close all financial transactions in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Manage Ministry of Education invoices for Ethiopian and Eritrean students, including stipends, visa fees, insurance and residency costs, and coordinate payment with the MOE.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum qualification).
• At least one year of experience in financial matters and budget allocation across administrative units.
• Preferred candidates with demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, change management and employee development capabilities.
• Strong accountability, resource‑management, results‑orientation and customer‑service focus.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
