Full-Time Faculty – International Relations & Security

About the role

The American University in the Emirates seeks qualified scholars to join its College of Security and Strategic Studies as full‑time faculty members. The position involves teaching, research, curriculum development, and service within the International Relations, International Security and Political Science specializations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 24 credit hours per academic year in English, covering International Relations, International Security and Political Science.
• Design, develop and regularly review curricula to ensure relevance and academic rigor.
• Assess student performance, assign grades and provide clear feedback aligned with learning outcomes.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participate in departmental committees, accreditation activities and university service.
• Engage in scholarly research, publish in Scopus‑indexed journals and collaborate with fellow faculty.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in International Relations, International Security, Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited U.S. or American‑accredited institution.
• Minimum three years of relevant professional experience and at least two years of teaching or professional experience at an internationally accredited university.
• Evidence of at least one peer‑reviewed publication in a Scopus‑indexed journal.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate web‑based or digital technology into classroom instruction.
• Excellent English communication skills for teaching and scholarly activities.
