Gas Turbine Fitter / Engine Overhaul Technician

About the role

Sulzer is looking for an experienced Gas Turbine Fitter / Engine Overhaul Technician to join its workshop team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and reassemble industrial gas turbines and power turbines according to OEM specifications, engineering standards and quality requirements. Candidates with experience in aviation engine maintenance, aircraft engine overhaul, gas turbine MRO, aero-derivative turbines or similar precision-engineering environments are particularly sought after.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, disassemble, inspect, overhaul, repair and reassemble gas turbine engines and components.
• Perform detailed strip and build activities according to engineering drawings, OEM manuals, work instructions and quality procedures.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical defects, component damage and assembly issues found during overhaul.
• Inspect components and record critical measurements, clearances, fits and tolerances with precision measuring equipment.
• Identify and report non-conforming, damaged or out-of-specification components.
• Complete overhaul, inspection, maintenance and quality documentation accurately and on time.
• Comply strictly with company health, safety, quality and engineering standards.
• Operate workshop equipment, specialist tooling and measuring instruments safely.
• Support the training of junior technicians and maintain good housekeeping.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in gas turbine, aero-engine, rotating equipment or engine overhaul environments.
• Experience in aviation MRO, aircraft engine maintenance, aero-derivative gas turbines, power generation or industrial gas turbine environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul and assembly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good English communication skills.

Required skills

• Interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals and work instructions.
• Using precision measuring tools and recording dimensions and tolerances.
• Completing maintenance records, inspection reports and overhaul documentation.
• Understanding of workshop safety and quality procedures.
