General Accountant (Trading/Commodities)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced General Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting for a UAE‑based holding group of companies operating in trading and commodities. The role involves maintaining accurate records, handling multicurrency transactions, and coordinating with external auditors and tax advisers.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, review and organise supporting documents such as contracts, invoices, bank statements and expense records.
• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records for multiple group entities, including purchases, sales, payments, receipts, advances, accruals and intercompany transactions.
• Record investments, financing arrangements and other group activities where applicable.
• Reconcile bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable and intercompany balances, including foreign‑exchange differences.
• Perform month‑end and year‑end closing, prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Coordinate annual audits, respond to auditor queries and prepare necessary reconciliations and confirmations.
• Prepare VAT calculations and returns and support corporate tax filings in collaboration with external advisers.
• Provide management with regular reports on financial results, expenses, receivables and payables.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including experience in the UAE.
• Proven ability to manage full‑cycle accounting and month‑end/year‑end closing independently.
• Experience handling accounting for multiple legal entities within a holding group.
• Practical knowledge of IFRS, UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to investigate and explain accounting discrepancies.

• Advanced Excel skills.
