General Practitioner (GP)

About the role

Royal Health Al Salam Specialized Hospital in Abu Dhabi is hiring a General Practitioner for its Medical/Clinical Services department. The GP provides comprehensive primary healthcare to patients of all ages, assessing, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions while promoting prevention and patient education. The post reports to the Medical Director / Clinical Director.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medical consultations, physical examinations and patient assessments.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, and develop treatment and management plans.
• Prescribe medications and treatments in line with clinical guidelines.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging and other diagnostic investigations.
• Provide preventive care, health screening, vaccinations and lifestyle counseling.
• Monitor chronic conditions and refer patients to specialists when needed.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and manage medical emergencies.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families and work with nurses, specialists and pharmacists.
• Follow clinical protocols, infection-control procedures and regulations, and take part in quality improvement, clinical audits and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Valid medical license to practice as a General Practitioner.
• Completed internship/residency or equivalent clinical training.
• Experience in primary care or general medicine.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred.
