General Technician

About the role

The General Technician provides essential maintenance support to ensure guest comfort and safety across the hotel property. This role involves responding to repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and maintaining equipment and inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Respond and attend to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines and carry equipment such as tools and radios.
• Identify, locate, and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and utility shut‑offs for the building.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean up work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical components, TV programming, and other guestroom items.
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinkler systems.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building systems.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects up to 50 lb and perform heavier tasks with assistance.
• Capability to move up and down stairs, ramps, ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Professional appearance, confidentiality, and adherence to safety, security, and company policies.

Required skills

• Air‑conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.
• Electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• Plumbing repair (e.g., unclogging drains, toilet plunging).
• Carpentry and finish work, including painting and drywall repair.
• Use of lockout/tagout procedures.
• Basic computer skills for scheduling and temperature adjustments.
• Landscaping and sprinkler system maintenance.
