Geotechnical Engineer – Abu Dhabi

About the role

WSP is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join its Abu Dhabi team. You will support major transportation, road, utilities and infrastructure projects across the UAE, delivering safe and cost‑effective geotechnical solutions in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and assessments for roads, highways, transportation, utilities and infrastructure projects.
• Interpret ground investigation data and develop design recommendations for foundations, retaining structures, excavations, embankments and slope stability.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical design reports, factual reports, specifications and technical submissions.
• Review borehole logs, laboratory test results and field investigation data.
• Provide geotechnical input to multidisciplinary teams during planning and design stages.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, roads, utilities and drainage teams to deliver integrated designs.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, international standards and local authority regulations.
• Support construction‑phase activities and respond to geotechnical queries.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 5‑10 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, preferably on large‑scale transportation and infrastructure projects.
• Strong consultancy background within engineering design environments.
• Experience interpreting geotechnical investigation data and laboratory testing results.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes, AASHTO, British Standards and UAE standards.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, gINT and WALLAP.
• Knowledge of foundation engineering, soil mechanics, earthworks, retaining structures and ground improvement techniques.
