Global Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Data Center

About the role

Eaton’s Global Data Center Segment is seeking a senior technical authority to lead electrical system design for mission‑critical data center projects worldwide. The role provides strategic and hands‑on engineering leadership from concept through construction and closeout.

Key responsibilities

• Act as global subject matter expert for MV/LV distribution, transformers, UPS architecture, protection, grounding and resilience strategies.
• Develop, implement and govern global electrical design standards, reference architectures and quality frameworks.
• Perform peer reviews, validate deliverables across regions and serve as final escalation point for complex design challenges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support bids and proposals, and represent Eaton in client‑facing meetings and design reviews.
• Lead value engineering initiatives and integrate emerging technologies to address high power densities and AI/HPC loads.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in mission‑critical facilities and data center environments.
• Proven ability to operate as a senior technical authority in global, matrixed organizations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in MV/LV distribution systems, UPS architectures, transformers, grounding, protection schemes and system coordination.
• Working knowledge of North American electrical codes (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, UL) and IEC standards.
