Head of Accounting, IFRS & Financial Control

About the role

The Head of Accounting will lead the end‑to‑end accounting function for a fast‑growing, regulated financial services firm in Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the CFO, this senior position combines hands‑on accounting work with strategic oversight to ensure robust financial governance as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Own the general ledger, chart of accounts and ensure data integrity.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare management accounts, financial reporting packs and analytical insights for senior leadership.
• Lead the preparation of IFRS‑compliant annual and interim financial statements.
• Develop, maintain and enforce accounting policies across a complex transaction environment.
• Oversee reconciliations for banks, payment providers, custodians and operational systems.
• Maintain a strong financial control environment, including review, approval and balance‑sheet verification.
• Coordinate audit activities and support regulatory reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior accounting or finance leadership roles.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high‑performing accounting teams.
• Deep knowledge of IFRS and local financial reporting standards.
• Strong track record of establishing robust financial controls and processes.
• Comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, growth‑focused environment.
