Head of Forward Deployed Engineering

About the role

Breakmark is seeking a senior leader to head its Forward Deployed Engineering team, working directly with enterprise and government customers to deliver AI‑driven software in complex operational environments. This hands‑on role combines technical delivery, customer engagement, and team mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to translate ambiguous operational needs into production‑ready software.
• Build focused demos, test ideas early, and ship full‑stack features for live use.
• Define reusable product capabilities from customer solutions.
• Coach engineers on scoping, delivery, communication, and technical decisions.
• Partner with product, ML, infrastructure, and engineering teams to ensure successful deployments.

Required profile

• 5+ years in forward‑deployed, field, or customer‑facing engineering roles.
• Proven experience shipping production software for enterprise customers.
• Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders, including on‑site engagements.
• Ability to lead and mentor while remaining active in the codebase.
• Experience with AI products or operationally complex industries is a plus.
