Head of Quality Assurance (Sharia Compliance)

About the role

The Head of Quality Assurance will support the Group Head of ISAG in delivering Sharia audit excellence and governance across the organization. Based in Abu Dhabi, this senior position ensures that all operations comply with Sharia rules, AAOIFI standards and internal supervisory resolutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent assurance as the third line of defense on Sharia governance, risk management and internal controls.
• Develop and execute a risk‑based annual Sharia audit plan, including risk rating, scope definition and resource allocation.
• Review Fatwas, monitor implementation of Sharia controls and follow up on compliance gaps.
• Maintain audit quality, prepare MIS and GRC reports, and present audit results to the Board Audit Committee.
• Coordinate with business units to gather financial and operational data for audit purposes.
• Prepare bi‑annual ISAG dashboards and quarterly activity reports for both ISAG and the Internal Sharia Supervisory Committee.
• Conduct periodic quality reviews of audit documentation and perform skill analyses of audit staff.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal Sharia audit or compliance within a Sharia‑compliant institution.
• Strong knowledge of Higher Sharia Authority (HSA), AAOIFI standards and Internal Sharia Supervisory Committee resolutions.
• Proven ability to lead risk‑based audit planning and manage audit teams.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting to senior governance bodies.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with MIS reporting tools and GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) systems.
