Head of Treasury

About the role

The Head of Treasury provides strategic and operational leadership over the Finance function of Digibank & Fintech, ensuring robust liquidity management, cash forecasting, foreign exchange execution, investment management, and financial risk control across multiple African entities. He/she ensures an optimal cash structure, sources currencies at the best rates, implements risk‑hedging mechanisms, and maintains regulatory compliance and financial resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the treasury strategy aligned with financial, risk and business objectives, and establish a governance framework across subsidiaries.
• Supervise daily cash positioning, intercompany liquidity, and implement cash forecasting using digital tools and a centralized treasury management system.
• Manage surplus liquidity through low‑risk, high‑yield investments and design FX, interest‑rate and market‑risk hedging strategies.
• Oversee treasury back‑office operations, ensuring compliance with IFRS, internal controls, audit requirements and proper segregation of duties.
• Champion digital treasury innovation by adopting APIs, AI‑based forecasting, data analytics and integrating treasury systems with core banking and payment platforms.
• Build and lead a high‑performing, multi‑jurisdictional treasury team, fostering talent development and a culture of integrity and collaboration.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Administration; professional certification such as ACT preferred.
• 10–15 years of treasury and financial risk management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior treasury leadership role within banking, fintech or digital payments, preferably across African jurisdictions.
• Proven track record in multi‑currency treasury management, cross‑border liquidity, capital and liquidity management, and regulatory compliance.
