Head of Year (Primary) – Lead Primary Year Group

About the role

Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Head of Year (Primary) to join Muna British Academy in Abu Dhabi, starting in January 2027. The school enjoys an Outstanding ADEK rating and operates from a new state‑of‑the‑art campus that serves students from FS1 to Year 8, with plans to expand to Year 13.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement department policies aligned with the school’s vision, monitor short‑, medium‑ and long‑term plans, and use data to support under‑achieving students.
• Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all learners, including SEN, G&T, and EAL provision.
• Lead and manage staff through performance management, regular department meetings, and collaborative professional standards.
• Oversee efficient deployment of staff and resources, manage the department’s budget, and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13, cover for absent colleagues, and invigilate examinations as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education or BA with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience on the English National Curriculum.
• Passion for whole‑child education, high professionalism, and a solution‑focused attitude.
• Clean enhanced DBS/police check and commitment to safeguarding children.
