Heavy Equipment Operator

About the role

The Heavy Equipment Operator will support a government contract on a military installation, performing construction, maintenance, and repair of roads, drainage, and other infrastructure. The role requires operating a variety of heavy machinery safely and efficiently while complying with all relevant regulations and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Determine and deploy the appropriate equipment for maintenance and repair tasks on a government contract.
• Operate construction equipment to grade, level, slope, and compact materials for roads, curbs, and surfaces.
• Investigate work sites, plan and estimate jobs, and coordinate with civil engineering and base agencies.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to policies.
• Maintain and repair graded and graveled roads, open ditches, drainage structures, foundations, and slabs.
• Construct and repair chain‑link fences as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum five (5) years recent heavy‑equipment experience in military or commercial settings.
• Experience supervising or performing construction equipment operations for asphalt, concrete, soil stabilization, and pavement work.
• At least one certification such as OSHA Certified Crane Operator, Certified Forklift Operator, Certified Front‑End Loader, Certified Skid‑Steer Operator, Certified Excavator Operator, Certified Street Sweeper Operator, or proven chain‑link fence experience.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read and apply technical manuals and safety instructions.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or B preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
