About the role

The Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment where every pupil can thrive. This role involves delivering engaging lessons, monitoring progress, and fostering a love of learning in line with the school's vision of "amazing learning".

Key responsibilities

• Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils of all backgrounds.
• Establish a safe, respectful classroom and maintain mutual respect.
• Plan and deliver well‑structured lessons that build on pupils' prior knowledge.
• Use systematic synthetic phonics for early reading and appropriate strategies for early mathematics.
• Monitor and assess pupil attainment, providing feedback and guidance.
• Adapt teaching to meet the diverse strengths and needs of each pupil, differentiating where necessary.
• Reflect on lesson effectiveness and contribute to curriculum design.

Required profile

• Passion for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and correct use of Standard English.
• Strong understanding of how pupils learn and develop physically, socially and intellectually.
• Ability to motivate pupils, encourage responsibility for their own work and foster intellectual curiosity.
• Commitment to the school’s policies, code of conduct and vision.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas.
• Understanding of systematic synthetic phonics for early reading.
• Knowledge of effective early mathematics teaching strategies.
• Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate structured lessons.
• Capability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
