HSE Engineer

About the role

The HSE Engineer will lead the development and implementation of health, safety and environmental initiatives for our water‑treatment operations in Sharjah. You will work closely with all departments to embed safety into daily processes, conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
• Liaise with government agencies to report incidents and safety improvements.
• Organise and deliver safety training programmes for staff at all levels.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes and recommend preventive actions.
• Collaborate with management to strengthen the safety culture across the organisation.
• Prepare detailed safety reports and presentations for senior management.
• Develop emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
• Review and approve plans for new installations or modifications to ensure safety compliance.
• Oversee waste management practices to support environmental sustainability.
• Monitor workplace conditions and implement corrective actions as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum three years of HSE experience in an industrial setting.
• In‑depth knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Relevant certification such as NEBOSH, OSHA or an equivalent.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
