HSE Officer

About the role

The HSE Officer will support the NMDC Project HSE Manager in delivering world‑class health, safety and environmental performance for dredging and marine projects. The role ensures compliance with local regulations, international codes and company policies while protecting the environment and workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the HSE Management System (HSEMS) across the project.
• Attend internal and client meetings to capture project‑specific HSE requirements.
• Conduct random safety spot‑checks, enforce zero‑tolerance for unsafe practices and alcohol abuse.
• Analyse HSE observations and incidents, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams on safety matters.
• Lead accident/injury investigations, track corrective actions and close out incidents.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure periodic inspection of safety and lifesaving equipment.
• Prepare and deliver HSE training plans, coordinate competency‑building sessions.
• Maintain HSE registers, incident reports, lessons‑learned databases and compile weekly statistical reports.
• Support the Project Manager in achieving HSE targets, JSA preparation and toolbox meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent professional qualification.
• Relevant HSE management qualification (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA).
• Experience in dredging, marine or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of the ISM Code, applicable regulations, codes, guidelines and standards.
