HSE Specialist - Mega Projects

About the role

Worley, a global energy, chemicals and resources company, is hiring an HSE Specialist in Abu Dhabi. The role provides HSE management leadership and support at program level for the Owner's project activities, ensures safe delivery and handover of the project, and delivers the written HSE program through procedures and plans.

Key responsibilities

• Champion the project safety culture, behaviors and engagement activities, and lead a team of HSE professionals.
• Develop and implement annual HSE plans, the project HSSE plan and procedures, and the HSSE training program for the construction phase.
• Ensure effective design HSE management and that tender invitations include HSE standards for subcontractors.
• Coordinate HSE input during the EPC phase, ensure emergency response plans and drills are in place, and chair weekly HSSEQ contractor meetings.
• Lead root cause investigations, analyze leading and lagging indicators, and generate HSSE performance statistics for the Owner.
• Monitor contractor compliance, take part in inspections, toolbox talks, audits and pre-task planning, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Identify hazardous waste risks, track HSSEQ permits and conditions, and assist with environmental permitting and EIA.
• Provide HSSE training to Owner and Contractor teams and support the Owner's HSE programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent, with at least 15 years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
• At least 5 years in a similar position on mega oil and gas or petrochemical projects.
• ADNOC project experience, offshore project experience and PMC experience are required.
• Experience in the FEED and EPC phases is required.
• Candidate with an occupation or health background and experience is a must.

Required skills

• Sound understanding of the HSE management system and HSE legislative requirements.
• Risk assessments, audit processes, PTW system and gas testing.
• H2S awareness and breathing apparatus use, incident analysis with root cause analysis, and emergency response planning.
• Good spoken, written and interpersonal English.
