HVAC Facilities Engineer

About the role

Wasl, one of Dubai's largest real estate management companies, is hiring an HVAC Engineer for its Facilities Management function. The role ensures the continuous, safe and energy-efficient operation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems across commercial, residential and industrial facilities, covering technical oversight, asset management, contractor supervision and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operation of HVAC equipment (chillers, VRF/VRV, AHUs, cooling towers, ventilation systems) and monitor performance via the BMS
• Plan and carry out preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance, keeping detailed maintenance history and CAFM/CMMS records
• Troubleshoot faults and provide technical advice during emergencies
• Ensure compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, Civil Defense, Municipality and Estidama requirements, and follow ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and ISO standards
• Analyze energy use and recommend improvements such as chiller sequencing, VFD upgrades and BMS tuning
• Supervise contractors, review method statements and validate service reports
• Maintain asset inventory and support FM projects such as retrofits, refurbishments and commissioning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical qualification
• 3-10 years of experience in HVAC maintenance, preferably in facilities management
• Professional certifications such as HVAC Technician, ASHRAE membership or FM qualifications (IFMA, CFM, FMP) are an advantage

Required skills

• HVAC systems, thermodynamics, refrigeration cycles and BMS control logic
• Reading mechanical drawings, schematics and O&M manuals
• Use of diagnostic tools and CAFM/CMMS systems
• Communication with clients, tenants and contractors, and leadership of technicians

Work is site-based across facility floors and plant rooms, with occasional shifts or on-call duty and possible exposure to confined spaces, heights and high temperatures.
