HVAC Mechanic – Preventive Maintenance & Repair

About the role

The HVAC Mechanic will perform preventative maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment under a USAF contract. Work is performed on a military base, following detailed procedures and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair high‑ and low‑pressure steam heating systems, chillers, air handlers, ductwork, thermostats, and package units.
• Check belts, change filters, mount compressors and condensers, and handle refrigerant management in compliance with the Clean Air Act and CENTCOM regulations.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks using oral or written instructions and ensure proper disposal of spent refrigerants.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least three years of HVAC‑related experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain facility credentials/authorization.
• Verified five years of experience or prior military service in HVAC AFSC/MOS with required certifications.

Required skills

• HVACR maintenance and repair, including chillers, air handlers, and ductwork.
• Refrigerant handling certifications (EPA Universal CFC/HCFC, NATE or equivalent).
• Copper brazing qualification and forklift Class III operation.
• Ability to operate government vehicles and maintain safety and quality standards.
