ICU Charge Nurse

About the role

The ICU Charge Nurse provides clinical leadership and ensures high‑quality, safe patient care within the Intensive Care Unit. This position supervises the nursing team each shift, coordinates patient care activities, and upholds clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee patient assessments, care planning, and evaluation.
• Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to evidence‑based practice.
• Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, and resolve conflicts.
• Maintain safe staffing levels in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
• Lead emergency response, medication safety, and interdisciplinary communication.
• Support patient and family education and guide junior staff.
• Participate in research, continuing education, and maintain a professional portfolio.

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in Nursing OR Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or the USA with a minimum two‑year program.
• Successful completion of the national licensing exam (USA: NCLEX‑RN, Canada: Licensing Exam) and a DOH license or eligibility.
• Strong clinical expertise, leadership capability, and critical thinking skills.
