Integration Hardware Developer

About the role

Geotab is seeking an Integration Hardware Developer to act as the Hardware Subject Matter Expert for new assets such as refrigeration control units, tachographs, thermographs and other third‑party devices. The role involves building proofs of concept, defining hardware requirements and leading pilot installations across global locations.

Key responsibilities

• Build in‑house proofs of concept and define requirements for hardware, firmware and mechanical engineering teams.
• Lead pilot installations for new asset integrations and provide technical support.
• Design and prototype harnesses, enclosures and tooling, then assemble and test units.
• Reverse‑engineer electrical, hardware and communications systems and protocols (CAN, K‑Line/ISO9141, VPW/PWM, Single Wire CAN, RS‑232, RS‑485).
• Collaborate directly with OEMs on custom data and diagnostics, and investigate third‑party device behavior.
• Study new field equipment, maintain legacy products and support strategic initiatives, including up to 25% travel.

Required profile

• Experience with vehicle systems, sensors, actuators, control systems, diagnostics and electrical/communications architecture.
• Hands‑on experience diagnosing vehicle problems using probing, harness building and circuit testing.
• Technical engineering education (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, Automotive, Industrial or related).
• Strong analytical skills and excellent English verbal and written communication.
• Entrepreneurial mindset, comfort in a flat organization and willingness to travel globally.

• CAN, K‑Line/ISO9141, VPW/PWM, Single Wire CAN, RS‑232, RS‑485 protocols.
• PCB design and harness design.
• Scripting or programming knowledge.
