Job description
About the role
An international corporate entity with offices in Dubai (HQ), Bangkok and Malta, which supports businesses with market entry, licensing, regulatory compliance, strategy consulting and IP management, is looking for an experienced Intellectual Property and Trademark Lawyer. The role leads global brand protection and trademark strategy in a highly autonomous position, owning the entire IP portfolio architecture so that brands stay protected across multiple jurisdictions during rapid expansion and new product launches. Relocation and an onsite presence in Dubai are required.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and run a global trademark and brand protection strategy aligned with expansion, product launches and market entry, and own the portfolio across trademarks, domains, copyrights and related rights, auditing it regularly and managing IP budgets.
- Lead end-to-end trademark prosecution worldwide, including clearance, filing strategy, examiner actions, renewals, assignments and recordals; oversee Madrid Protocol and national filings through external agents and maintain a consistent classification strategy.
- Handle oppositions, invalidations and cancellations before the EUIPO, WIPO and national offices, draft opposition strategies and evidence packages, supervise external counsel and decide whether to enforce, defend, coexist or withdraw.
- Support online brand protection, including domain strategy, UDRP/URS actions and marketplace takedowns, and advise on naming, rebranding and product launches from an IP risk perspective.
- Act as the main IP advisor to marketing, product, partnerships and regional expansion teams, giving clear opinions on registrability and risk, and contribute to IP awareness and training.
Required profile
- LL.B./JD and an active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of hands-on IP work, including global trademark prosecution and contested matters.
- Proven wins in oppositions, UDRP/URS and at least one multi-country litigation or high-value settlement.
- Strong contract-drafting skills for licensing and tech transactions.
- Fluency in English; experience in software, digital services or entertainment is highly advantageous.
Required skills
- Proficiency with IP-management and brand-monitoring platforms such as Corsearch, MarkMonitor and Red Points.
- Solid Excel and Google Sheets capabilities.
