Inventory Controller – Retail Finance (1‑year Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Retail Finance Analyst focused on inventory and stock control to join our finance team on a one‑year contract. The role works closely with finance, supply chain, buying, warehouse and store operations to ensure accurate inventory accounting and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control inventory movements across warehouses, stores and distribution channels, ensuring balances are correctly reflected in financial systems.
• Investigate discrepancies, reconcile physical counts with system records, and support month‑end and year‑end inventory close activities.
• Coordinate cycle counts and annual stock‑taking, review results and partner with operational teams to resolve variances.
• Prepare inventory, stock ageing, shrinkage and variance reports, developing dashboards using Excel and Power BI.
• Support internal and external audits by maintaining documentation and audit trails.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or Business Administration; professional qualifications (CMA, CPA, CIMA) are a plus.
• 3–5 years of experience in inventory accounting, retail finance, cost accounting or related financial analysis, preferably in a fast‑paced multi‑site retail environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, etc.).
• Power BI for reporting and dashboard creation.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics or JD Edwards.
