IoT Automation Engineer (UAE Based)

About the role

Datamatics Technologies is hiring an IoT Automation Engineer based in the UAE, working onsite in Ras Al Khaimah. The position is full-time, lasts 1 year and requires candidates who are currently based in the UAE and legally eligible to work there; any nationality is acceptable.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct plant audits, capture current manufacturing processes, instrumentation, KPIs and data flows, and identify opportunities for digitization and Industry 4.0 transformation.
• Recommend sensors, data acquisition techniques, KPIs and IIoT use cases, and verify process design diagrams and technical specifications.
• Lead technical assessments of system integrators and ODMs for sensors, IIoT gateways, robots, cobots, drives and industrial automation, and coordinate vendors on delivery, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Design, develop and manage IoT and automation solutions, lead deployments and configure devices, networks and data collection.
• Implement and optimize automation frameworks, monitor systems for performance, reliability, availability and security, and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Develop custom automation applications and scripts in Python, JavaScript or similar, and document architectures and workflows.
• Mentor junior specialists and collaborate with Engineering, IT and Operations teams.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in robotics, assembly line and manufacturing process automation, including design, simulation, architecture and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with robot and cobot simulation, programming and deployment with OEMs such as KUKA, FANUC, ABB or Yokogawa.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet, HART, Ethernet, OPC UA, OPC HDA) and IIoT platforms such as ThingWorx, Azure IoT Hub and AWS IoT Core.
• Experience with use cases such as OEE, predictive maintenance, camera-based quality inspection, genealogy and SPC.
• Proficiency with automation frameworks such as Node-RED, Home Assistant and Ansible, and strong programming in Python, JavaScript and C/C++.
• Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, historians, HMIs and CNC controllers.

Required skills

• Knowledge of sensors, actuators, IoT gateways, middleware, data storage, cobots and OT-IT integration.
• IIoT architecture, MQTT and CoAP, and IoT security (encryption, authentication).
• Good-to-have: batch process engineering (ISA S88, ISA 95), vision systems, OSI PI Historian, DCS/PLC/SCADA certification, and Plant Automation Accelerator.
