IT Operations & Support Engineer - Mainframe Technologies

About the role

Emirates Group is seeking an IT Operations & Support Engineer specialized in Mainframe Technologies to ensure continuous service delivery for internal and external customers. The role focuses on incident resolution, service request handling, and proactive problem management while supporting the airline’s critical IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the single point of contact for incident resolution and service requests, updating status in the ITSM tool.
• Analyse and resolve mainframe incidents, providing quick fixes or work‑arounds and documenting them in the known error database.
• Monitor critical batch jobs, identify abends, and take corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Collaborate with problem management to perform root‑cause analysis and implement permanent solutions.
• Liaise with vendors, IT coordinators and other teams to maintain high system availability and ensure compliance with IT policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent 12+3 education).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT, with a focus on mainframe operations and support.

Required skills

• Operational experience with IBM Z series, IBM Storage OS390, and LPARs.
• Professional certification in IBM z/OS.
• Proficiency with mainframe tools such as TSO/ISPF, RACF, and z/OS Connect.
• Experience using observability platforms like Splunk, Zabbix or AppDynamics.
• Hands‑on knowledge of ITSM tools, particularly ServiceNow, and a solid understanding of the ITIL framework.
