IT Support Specialist

About the role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah is looking for a proactive, customer‑focused IT Support Specialist to provide frontline technical assistance to students, faculty and staff, and to keep the university’s desktop systems, applications and classroom technology running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line support for hardware, software, operating systems and IT services.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, laptops, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
• Support Microsoft 365 applications, user accounts and Active Directory administration.
• Troubleshoot incidents in Windows and macOS environments.
• Assist with classroom audio‑visual and learning‑space technology.
• Track, document and resolve service requests via the IT service management system.
• Perform preventive maintenance and health checks of IT equipment.
• Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and lifecycle tracking.
• Support wired and wireless network connectivity and IP telephony services.
• Help deploy new technologies, applications and IT solutions while following security best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in IT Support, Help Desk or Desktop Support.
• Professional certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco or IT Service Management; ITIL certification is a plus.
• Experience in a higher‑education environment and with classroom AV systems is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.
• Experience configuring and maintaining hardware peripherals (PCs, laptops, printers, scanners).
• Understanding of networking concepts, wired/wireless connectivity and IP telephony.
• Familiarity with audio‑visual classroom technology and endpoint security measures.
