Italian Commis – Food & Beverage

About the role

The Italian Commis will support the kitchen team at Le Méridien Fujairah by preparing and cooking Italian‑style dishes in a fast‑paced hotel environment. This full‑time position involves handling fresh ingredients, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring every plate meets the brand’s quality and presentation criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients: portion, chop, wash, peel, weigh, measure and store fresh fruits, vegetables and other items.
• Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Monitor food quality, test doneness and adjust cooking times as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitized work station, including tools, knives and kitchen surfaces.
• Ensure proper temperature control of appliances and food items.
• Set‑up and break down work stations at the start and end of each shift.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies, reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in a food‑and‑beverage or culinary role.
• Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.
• Willingness to work in a team‑oriented, multicultural hotel environment.

Required skills

• Basic food preparation techniques (chopping, portioning, measuring).
• Operation of standard kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, microwaves).
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
