Junior Legal Counsel

About the role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Junior Legal Counsel advises all CPX business units on technology transactions, corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters and intellectual property. The role also handles client and vendor agreement negotiations and responds promptly to requests for legal advice.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent advice on technology transactions, labour and employment matters, regulatory and compliance issues and intellectual property rights.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including non-disclosure agreements and terms and conditions, and support business units in developing and revising client and vendor agreements.
• Assist the General Counsel in rolling out the compliance program and draft policies on labour law, supplier code of conduct, trade compliance and data privacy and security.
• Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements and customer requirements, deliver training on policies and procedures, and help cross-functional teams with risk management.
• Assist with investigations, inquiries and disputes, resolve issues in existing commercial relationships, and maintain the compliance tracking system and risk register.

Required profile

• 1-3 years of professional experience handling complex commercial, M&A, private equity and international technology-related contracts.
• Articling or foundational legal experience at a leading law firm or corporate legal department is preferred.
• Law degree from a recognized university and admission as an attorney, barrister and/or solicitor in Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, the UK or the US.
• Bilingualism (Arabic/English) is preferred but not essential.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage several files at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Client-service orientation and capacity to accommodate a flexible schedule occasionally.
