About the role
The Junior Naval Architect will support the engineering team in delivering stability, ballast, mooring and strength calculations for DP World Maritime Solutions' MCV fleet. The role involves preparing technical documentation, assisting with site inspections and collaborating with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ballast and intact stability calculations for various operating conditions.
- Assist with longitudinal strength checks, draft/trim assessments, and other naval architecture analyses.
- Develop onshore and offshore mooring arrangements, including line geometry and load calculations.
- Produce method statements, technical proposals, feasibility studies, stowage and ballast plans.
- Support cargo stowage, sea fastening, load distribution and deck‑strength engineering.
- Review vessel particulars, cargo data, jetty/berth information and tidal data for feasibility assessments.
- Provide technical input to Commercial and Operations teams for project planning and tendering.
- Participate in site inspections, collect dimensions and operational data, and produce inspection reports.
- Coordinate with vessel masters, operations, contractors, clients and other stakeholders on technical requirements.
- Assist in preparing calculation notes, drawings, close‑out documentation and ensure proper document control.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in naval architecture, marine engineering, heavy‑lift or marine transportation.
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports and correspondence.
- Proactive, able to work under supervision, manage priorities and meet project deadlines.

- Microsoft Excel
- AutoHydro (preferred)
- Optimoor (preferred)
- Rhinoceros, MOSES, ANSYS (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Classification Society rules and IMO requirements
- Ability to read and interpret vessel drawings, GA plans and stability information
