Junior Sous Chef - Chinese & Thai Cuisine

About the role

White Orchid, a restaurant at JA The Resort in Dubai, is looking for a Junior Sous Chef specializing in Chinese and Thai cuisine. The restaurant sits in lush gardens with a private beachfront and offers authentic Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes alongside an interactive Teppanyaki experience. As Junior Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Sous Chef and Senior Sous Chef in running the kitchen day to day, helping lead the team and keep culinary standards high.

Key responsibilities

• Support the daily operation of the kitchen and ensure efficient service delivery.
• Prepare and present authentic Chinese and Thai dishes to the highest standards.
• Keep food quality, flavour, presentation and portion control consistent.
• Assist in supervising, training and motivating the culinary team, including junior members.
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and sanitation.
• Monitor stock levels, food preparation and kitchen productivity.
• Support menu execution and quality across all service periods.
• Work with colleagues to create memorable guest experiences.

Required profile

• Chinese or Thai nationality.
• Culinary degree or recognized 3-year culinary certification.
• Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and Culinary Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within a 5-star hotel or resort.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of authentic Chinese and/or Thai cuisine.
• Good understanding of kitchen operations and food safety standards.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• A positive attitude, attention to detail and passion for culinary excellence.
