KONG API Developer – Banking Client (Abu Dhabi)

About the role

We are looking for a KONG API Developer to join a banking client in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on designing, building and maintaining secure, high‑performance API gateways using KONG.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy APIs using KONG API Gateway.
• Configure and manage KONG plugins for rate limiting, authentication, logging and other functionalities.
• Integrate KONG with microservices and back‑end services.
• Implement security measures such as OAuth2, JWT, mutual TLS and API key management.
• Monitor API performance, troubleshoot latency, throughput and security issues.
• Collaborate with DevOps to automate API deployments via CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with development teams to optimise APIs for performance, scalability and security.
• Manage API versioning, documentation and lifecycle, ensuring backward compatibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a KONG API Developer or in a similar API development role.
• Hands‑on experience with KONG API Gateway, including plugin development and configuration.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture and API security.
• Experience with authentication mechanisms such as OAuth2, JWT and API key management.
