Lab Engineer – Architecture & Civil Engineering

About the role

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah is hiring two full‑time Laboratory Engineers – one for the Architecture department and one for the Civil & Infrastructure Engineering department. The role supports teaching, research and student projects by preparing and managing laboratory experiments and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist faculty in delivering laboratory sessions and conducting research.
• Develop, set up and calibrate experiments in concrete, asphalt, soil, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, surveying and digital fabrication.
• Prepare lab materials, dispense tools, and manage student access to manuals and data books.
• Inspect, maintain and procure laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Maintain databases of equipment catalogs, manuals, protocols and ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping regulations.
• Support senior design projects, undergraduate research and departmental committees.

Required profile

• BSc (or diploma) in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Digital Fabrication or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Effective oral and written English communication skills.
• Interest in working with a diverse student population and collaborating with faculty across disciplines.
