Laboratory Technician – Quality Operations

About the role

The Laboratory Technician supports the Quality department by implementing, coordinating and reviewing quality systems to ensure conformance to standards within Emirates Cement operations.

Key responsibilities

• Select representative samples and prepare raw meal, raw‑materials and cement samples for analysis using approved methods.
• Perform X‑ray fluorescence (XRF) testing, record and interpret results, adjusting values to meet target specifications.
• Maintain quality‑assurance processes, monitor product output efficiency and cost‑effectiveness, and ensure compliance with the company’s quality control system.
• Monitor the condition and expiry of laboratory solutions and chemical reagents, and conduct simple calibrations according to the calibration plan.
• Provide timely analytical support to the Operations team, report key process issues and trigger corrective actions when defect rates exceed limits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science.
• Minimum five years of experience in a cement manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in English (essential) and working knowledge of Arabic.

Required skills

• X‑ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis of cement and raw materials.
• Sample preparation and laboratory testing techniques.
• Calibration of laboratory equipment and interpretation of calibration results.
• Quality‑assurance data recording, analysis and reporting.
• Monitoring of chemical reagents and laboratory solution integrity.
