Laboratory Technologist

About the role

We are seeking a Laboratory Technologist to join our microbiology department at Fakeeh University Hospital. The role supports the Consultant Microbiologist in delivering high‑quality diagnostic services and ensures smooth laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Consultant Microbiologist with a variety of microbiology duties and preparatory procedures.
• Perform automated technical procedures that do not require professional judgment.
• Draft reports, procedures and correspondence for review by the Consultant Microbiologist.
• Instruct nurses, physicians and patients on proper specimen collection and submission.
• Carry out simple clerical tasks, prepare routine specimens and maintain operational records.
• Clean and disinfect work tables, biosafety cabinets, instruments and machines.
• Update instrument data (temperature, airflow, maintenance checklists) and report any non‑functional equipment.
• Support colleagues, new staff and trainees as needed and foster positive working relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification.
• DHA licence as a Laboratory Technologist (mandatory).
• 2‑3 years of hospital or clinic experience within the GCC.
• Experience handling paediatric patients.
