Laboratory Technologist

About the role

The Laboratory Technologist will perform a wide range of clinical tests in a hospital laboratory setting, ensuring compliance with international and local quality standards. Working under the supervision of senior laboratory staff, you will contribute to accurate patient diagnostics and support research and development activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct biological, haematological, chemical, and physical analyses on samples such as blood, urine, sputum, water and tissues.
• Operate, maintain, and shut down sophisticated laboratory instruments, including pH meters, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis and chromatography apparatuses, immunoassay analysers, cell counters, analytical balances and autoclaves.
• Prepare chemical reagents and biological media, following aseptic techniques and standardisation procedures.
• Perform quality control and quality improvement activities, ensuring results are released only when QC data are within accepted parameters.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and Laboratory Information System entries.
• Collaborate with medical staff and hospital personnel, providing clear communication and support.

Required profile

• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines (ISO 15189, JCI, DOH/DHA/MOH).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
• Capability to work independently under supervision and take responsibility for adopted policies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems.
• Hands‑on experience with pH meters, spectrophotometers, electrophoresis, chromatography, immunoassay analysers, cell counters, analytical balances and autoclaves.
• Competence in preparing reagents, media and performing aseptic techniques.
• Knowledge of quality control/QI processes and ISO 15189 standards.
