Lead AI Engineer - Enterprise AI Consultancy

About the role

DeepLight AI, an AI and data consultancy focused on the financial services and banking sectors in the UAE, is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to act as technical authority, client principal and line manager across its enterprise engagements. The role combines quantitative science, agentic AI architectures, MLOps and consulting, and includes direct line management of a squad of 5-10 AI Engineers, Data Scientists and MLOps specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a squad of AI engineers and data scientists, including 1-on-1s, performance reviews, career growth and pair programming
• Design, build and deploy LLM agents, agentic workflows, RAG pipelines and ML models on AWS or Azure
• Advise client C-suite and engineering leads, turning business challenges into technical roadmaps
• Navigate stakeholder environments and defend technical choices and AI ethics before architecture review boards and risk committees
• Enforce banking-grade security and MLOps, including zero-trust frameworks, prompt injection defenses, PII masking and CI/CD pipelines compliant with UAE PDPL and Central Bank rules

Required profile

• 3+ years of formal line management experience with engineers and data scientists
• Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, AI or a related quantitative field
• 8+ years in software engineering, machine learning and AI platform development, leading teams in top consultancies
• Proven track record of moving AI/ML systems from experiments to production cloud environments

Required skills

• Advanced Python and hands-on experience building autonomous AI agents and multi-agent workflows
• Preferred: LoRA, QLoRA, quantization, vLLM, Ollama, TGI
• Preferred: experience in financial services, banking or capital markets, and exposure to the UAE or GCC market
