Lead Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical

About the role

Penspen is urgently hiring a Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical) for one of its Offshore PMC projects in Abu Dhabi. The role covers the planning, coordination, execution and supervision of mechanical commissioning and startup, and ensures equipment is safely handed over to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning for PSA, RTU, DCS, FGS, ESD and control and automation systems, including vendor document review, logic checks and cause-and-effect checks.
• Provide technical advice during prequalification and tender evaluation so that contractors and suppliers meet technical requirements.
• Advise on construction, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including integrated planning, scheduling, completion and reporting.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and act as the interface between engineering, procurement and construction teams.
• Plan, coordinate, execute and supervise commissioning of the HVDC system, including converter stations, offshore/onshore platforms, piping, pipelines, mechanical systems, auxiliary systems, control and protection systems and their sub-systems.
• Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are safely pre-commissioned, commissioned, tested, started up and handed over to operations in line with project specifications, international standards and company procedures.
• Develop Mechanical Commissioning Execution Plans, procedures, schedules and systemization strategies; review vendor manuals, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and operating philosophies; define system and subsystem boundaries for mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, with at least 5 years significant in offshore projects.
• Proven dedicated experience in commissioning and startup.
• Experience commissioning offshore platforms, wellhead towers, jackets and topsides, pipelines and brownfield offshore facilities preferred.
• PMC/EPC background preferred; previous ADNOC Offshore experience is an advantage.
