Lead Commissioning Specialist – DCS

About the role

The Lead Commissioning Specialist – DCS will oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting of Distributed Control System (DCS) hardware and software for GE Vernova projects. This senior position requires extensive field experience in power‑plant and oil‑&‑gas environments and involves direct interaction with clients and project teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage on‑site controls and instrumentation activities during installation, commissioning and maintenance of DCS upgrades or new installations.
• Review plant engineering documents and P&IDs, plan resources, and ensure work scope meets contractual requirements.
• Provide technical direction and support for OEM packaged products, including Mark Vie, Cimplicity, HMI and network switches.
• Configure, modify and troubleshoot DCS hardware/software for BOP, gas and steam turbine systems.
• Prepare field service reports, maintain accurate timesheets, and obtain customer signatures.
• Conduct informal and formal training for customer personnel and supervise cable laying and insulation‑resistance testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electronic/electrical engineering or a related engineering diploma.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with GE DCS control systems (e.g., Mark Vie) in oil & gas or power‑plant projects.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment control philosophy for gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors and generators.
• Valid driver’s licence and passport (or ability to obtain a passport).

Required skills

• Proficiency with DCS platforms such as Mark Vie and Cimplicity, and HMI configuration.
• Understanding of PLC ladder logic and software sequencing.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting field devices (servo‑valves, transmitters, etc.).
• Ability to use special tools – multimeter, oscilloscope, frequency generator, pressure pump.
• Competence in reading technical drawings (wiring diagrams, P&ID, general arrangement).
• Fluent English and strong MS Office computer skills.
